From Wooden Blinds to Frosted Window Film, Window Coverings and everything In-between

Looking for a new blind, curtain or window covering?  Are you tired of your old curtains and blinds, but don’t know what else there is available, how much it costs or if it would suit?   Hopefully, after looking around this site, you should have more of an idea of the options and choices available to you.  While this is not a comprehensive list by any means, I am planning on adding to it and updating it regularly. So, whether its privacy window film, blinds and curtains or frosted window film, you’ll find updated information on it here.  Can’t decide whether to use wooden blinds or faux wood blinds, or you’re looking for house shutters ideas? Perhaps you want to make your own roller blinds.  You’ve come to the right site!

If you like to decorate your own home, you can do a lot with frosted window film. It’s relatively easy to apply, and is not only useful for covering your windows and adding to your privacy but can also beautifully decorate windows, glass doors and mirrors! Decorative window film, or sticky back plastic as it is also called, can be both functional and look great as well. Some people prefer to use either tinted window film or colored window film instead, you can find plenty of either kind for sale.

Perhaps you’re concerned about your privacy.  Tired of people walking by and seeing straight into your house?  Maybe there’s just a section of your house that needs heightened security?  Whatever your need, you can improved your  privacy simply by adding security window film to your windows, and to your glass doors.  It’s very effective, simple to apply and this glass window film adds to your home’s décor nicely.

Venetian blinds also are great for providing extra privacy when needed. The great thing with these type of blinds also is that a venetian blind is very easy to adjust depending on the amount of light you want to enter the room; and they’re relatively cheap when compared to other types of shutters. When comparing venetian blinds, blinds made from wood or faux wood, you will also find that they are often less unwieldy to open and close.
If you enjoy making things yourself, you really should check out how to make your own blinds and window coverings, including roller blinds.  They’re actually relatively easy to make, some of the simplest curtain blinds to make. You can even buy special ‘roller blind’ kits that supply you with all of the accessories and parts needed to make and hang your roller blind.  Nothing like being able to show off to your friends your own home made roller blind!

Then there’s the age old decision on whether to go with wooden blinds, or faux wood blinds.  If you are interested in learning the difference between them, aside from the obvious one of the material they’re made out of, check out my posts on the subjects.   Both blinds have features that make them perfect for some windows coverings, but not so suitable for others.  For example faux wood blinds are a lot heavier than real wooden blinds, thus they’re not as appropriate to use to cover large expanses of windows as it is more difficult to lower and raise them.  But wooden blinds can warp if they are exposed to too much humidity, and they are also sometimes faded by the sunlight as are many regular window curtain fabrics.

If you are looking for cheap, yet good quality curtains & blinds you may also be interested in reading about the choices of Home Depot curtains and window covering blinds, including 2″ blinds available.
