Mini blinds are great in a situation like this. You can even just go ahead and buy cream or white colored blinds and not worry about what shade fits best with your current room décor.
Alternatively you can choose a color that fits with your room, and buy your blinds accordingly. One tip that I have found in decorating, when deciding on what color blinds to put up, is to choose one of the less used colors in the room and match your blinds to that. This really helps accent the room, and brings out colors and shades that are often more subdued.
If you want to draw attention to your windows, then choose a bold color or an unusually designed and patterned mini blind. If you want your blinds to melt into the overall appearance of the room, then choose either a neutral color, or a light shade of the predominant color your room is decorated with.
